Smart City Blueprint Luncheon
Certizen 2018-02-08

Smart City Blueprint Luncheon hosted by Smart City Consortium (SCC) and sponsored by Certizen Limited was successfully held on 7 February 2018. About 400 smart city experts and representatives from the innovation and technology, business and political sectors crowded the venue to share ideas of smart city development in Hong Kong.

As the keynote speaker of the luncheon and the head of Hong Kong Government, Mrs. Carrie Lam reiterated the Government’s commitment to build a smart city for the people of Hong Kong.

She will preside over the Steering Committee on Innovation and Technology and review the legal and regulatory framework to abolish any obsolete regulations hindering I&T development so as to promote innovations at policy level.

Mrs. Lam also mentioned the upcoming plans to establish the infrastructure required for smart city development, such as the opening up of Government data and provision of digital identity for Hong Kong residents.

Mrs. Lam ended her speech by highlighting the rising amount of local venture capital funding and the increasing number of made-in-Hong Kong startups to spur innovation and entrepreneurship. “The Smart City Blueprint is just the beginning. It’s a living document driving a multifaceted policy agenda. We will continue to and upgrade them for the benefit of the people of Hong Kong,” concluded Mrs. Lam.

The luncheon served as an interactive communication channel to seek a better model for smart city development in Hong Kong. Apart from Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, special guests included Mr Chen Dong, Deputy Director of The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Nicholas Yang, GBS, JP, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Ir Allen Yeung, JP, Government Chief Information Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Ms Zheng Mingmei, Secretary General of Smart City Development Alliance and Director of Division of Smart and Low-carbon Cities of China Center for Urban Development.
